Type of a scam Other
- I bought full mechanical and seals coverage for my vehicle.
- My engine failed .and I submitted a claim.
I maintained the vehicle to manufactures guidelines and Dodge dealerships.
- I provided the spotless maintenance records to CarChex.
- The inspector for CarChex came out and inspected the vehicle visually and requested removal of the oil pan.
- The shop drained the oil pan of 8 quarts of oil and dropped the axle and oil pan. It cost me $800 to provide this visual access to the inspector.
- The shop and the inspector determined a rod bearing failed. That bearing was submerged in the 8 quarts of oil in the oil pan.
- The administrator for Car Chex, informed us that they needed complete disassemble of the motor to determine if it had lost lubrication.
- Once again 8 quarts of oil were drained from the oil pan for the inspector, and I had seals coverage also.
- The cost to remove and disassemble the engine would have been over $3000. I already had $800 invested in the inspection. Both the inspector and the shop mechanic had determined the cause of failure as the sleeve within the bearing cap had rolled and failed.
- We explained this to CarChex and Royal Administration Services.
- They insisted that I pay the additional $3000 which would have been unrecoverable to determine the cause of failure, although it had already been determined.
- This is most likely a scam they use whenever they want to get out of a large claim.
- I decided to replace the engine on my own at a cost of $15000.
- I decided to cancel the contract, after already paying $3000 to them.
A few notes on my dealings with them.
- They use their accreditation with the ScamPulse.com as a sales advantage.
- I bought the plan based on their claims of ScamPulse.com Accreditation.
- They use a technique of having you listen to music on their phone line for 30 minutes to an hour before answering to discuss a claim.
- The music is not relaxing, in fact it is annoying, and causes the listener to get frustrated before they answer.
- Once they answer they are unreasonable and rude.
- Their business model appears to be thoroughly developed with the intent to avoid paying large claims.
- They use an arbitration clause in their as they know it is not worth the time and energy for complainants to pursue a resolution.
- They also don't want to risk a trial and the cost of lawyers.
I would request that you reconsider your accreditation of CarChex. My experience is they do not represent the ScamPulse.com in a favorable light.
