I was contacted via message by Benjamin Stein from Sporos Bioventures. The message said that they found my profile through indeed (they had my full name and number). I do have an indeed account which led me to believe this might be real. I was told to download Signal Messenger and contact Stephanie Leven at (617)-286-6461. In the beginning it seemed normal. No spelling errors or asking for personal information. I did an interview over message which is what set my alarm bells off because what remote company has you do a message interview rather than over the phone or zoom. I was never asked for personal info in my interview and after the interview concluded I was told I would hear back by 9am the next morning. At 11am the next day I was told I got the job along with more info. I was told that they would send the "needed equipment" to my address. I was then told I would be sent a check to buy all the necessary equipment through "specific trusted vendors" (even though they just said it would be sent to my address by the company). This is when the spelling errors began. They were never pushy for info but they were playing the long con game. I was then sent an email with the welcome document, W-4 forms, background check form, and a company handbook. The welcome letter, background check form, and handbook were filled with spelling and grammatical errors. When the scammer was confronted, all they could say was "are you trying to scam me?" and "are you trying to get my info". I should have listened to my gut sooner but a part of me hoped the $24.50/hr, full benefits, work from home, and pick your own schedule was true. I never gave out any personal info thank goodness. If it seems to good to be true it probably is.

I just got the same thing! I found that their name is Precious Jones and their address is 106 Salem drive Montgomery, AL 36109 and their real email is [email protected]. People are so stupid to try and scam people using an iPhone when I can clearly do a reverse search 😂

The scammer offered me a job, pretending to be the Sporos bioventures company. I had applied for a remote data entry clerk job and they pretended to offer me a job. They got my ssn and driver's license photos, with a w-4 tax document claiming I needed to fill it out, they had also gotten my drivers license by asking for a valid ID. The scammer offered to send me a check but I found out a popular scamming method was sending fake checks getting me to buy a service, and then charging the bank account once the check bounces. There were lots of fake names used, such as Alicia Carbonell, Christopher Alejandro, and Ian Owens. They sent official seeming documents for the purpose of "background checks". They sent a company handbook and other documents with the Sporos Bioventures Logo. They operated through the signal app, after they sent me a text message.

I was initially contacted by someone name Benjamin via text from 334-200-7486 number. He said he saw my resume on indeed..I didn’t think it was red flag because I do have a resume with indeed..He then told me to download an app called signal…And that I was to connect with someone name Stephanie number with 617-286-6461.We connected, she “interviewed “ me. She asked what I thought was interviewing questions. After I was considered as the best candidate for Data Entry Assistant Clerk..I was told I would be emailed documents..I was to print the documents and send email them back…I did.It included a W-4.I was told I would receive a check by mail for the software I needed to Work From Home…The check came and I was supposed to immediately deposit into my account…Thankfully I had needed to talk to one of my bank’s representatives and they confirmed it then that it was fraud.I was hurt, disappointed and felt defeated.

+1

Literally the interview process I just dealt with. Thankfully I felt like an interview via text was super weird and did some research to see if it was a scam.
