I called the number, the girl said she could only cancel the subscription (that I did not consent to). No invoice came to my email. No clarification about "charges". She said I had to email the company to get a refund or access to the report.
I went on the website's live chat and the woman knew nothing. Did a "$1 refund" but while I was chatting with her I called the debit card and heard I was debited $1.20 and $11.94.
They provide no invoice, no easy means to cancel and worse-- NO INFORMATION! I'd gladly have paid the money if they provided what they sold.
Very little info on their website (now that I look from a computer instead of my phoen where I made the purchase). No business address, etc.
Lastly, their "privacy policy" says they can resell/use my contact info as they want or I can "unsubscribe" from their emails. There is no unsubscribe option. It's a machine to get people on subscriptions unknowingly and pilfer information. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!

VIN & Title Lookup Scam
1) I live in Florida and I'm interested in buying a used car I saw online in Pennsylvania and thought I'd do some research on this vehicle with the internet resources we have available today.
2) With the VIN# available in the listing I found that I would check it out and a Title search on the government website NMVTIS.gov. This is where I saw and learned about carlookup.com and decided to use them to run the history for a $1.00 trial and signed up for the subscription. Running the report went fast and saw nothing I didn't already know as the report was so minimal and not worth the $1 and time to sign up.
3) About half an hour later after using the carlookup.com website to run the report I was now reading, I received a very disturbing, disappointing email from my credit card company that an attempt was made to charge me $179.76 by some outfit called searchfinder.com, which I did not see was on the carlookup.com website. Do they use searchfinder.com as a third-party client to run the VIN reports?
4) So now I have forgotten about the purchase of the vehicle as I have been talking to my credit card company about the fraud charges and canceling my credit card and having to wait for a new one and what else is going to happen to me for using carlookup.com. My credit card company gave me two phone numbers for this outfit searchfinder.com - 800.818.8395 and 786.375.5824.
Most of the above is in the contact email I sent to [email protected] asking why the charge $179.76 after paying $1.00 to sign up, then if you want to have the worthless report an additional $.95 and the reply from 'Adam' was -
"Hello

Well Adam did not help much at all.
I replied to that email by stating that I would share this experience with many of the Scam Complaint sites available.
