I received a email that my account was about to be charged $366.67 to continue my McAfeea,,c account on my computer and that the money would be automatically taken from my bank account and show up within 24-48 hours. I was furious. I called the 1 808 978 9159 number and got some man with a very heavy accent on the line. So heavy I kept asking him to repeat what he was saying. He told me that I have to pay this amount or cancel. I told him that I have security on my computer but it doesn't cost that much and I have never allowed any automatic payments for it. He insisted that I did allow automatic payments. He asked me if I was on my computer. I said No. He asked me to go on my computer so we could cancel the plan. I told him that I usually do my things directly at the Best Buy store Geek Squad Counter. He told me that he was from Best Buy Geek Squad. I told him that I would rather go into the store to handle this. He then told me that the people at the store would not be able to help me with this. At which point I insisted that I was hanging up and going over to Best Buy to the Geek Squad. He insisted that I had to go on my computer to handle it. I told him No. I was hanging up and on my way over to the store. I said Good By and hung up.

I then called Best Buy and asked if they had sent my an e-mail. They said they had not. I asked them about the cost that was in the e-mail and said that was twice what I normally pay had the service doubled in price and changed it's name. She said the price was the same for the annual plan that I paid before and my plan was not up. She also told me that the number I had is not a Best Buy number nor a Geek Squad number. So she took a formal complaint from me.

The e-mail that was sent to me does not show any of my banking account information, but I will be watching carefully for anything that does not look right. And if they somehow manage to take money out of my account, I will follow up with every agency I can think of, because if they have tried this with me, they will try with someone else. If I had turned on my computer, they may have been able to gain access or take it over and do whatever they wanted. I'm glad I was so angry, that it did not go that far.
