A couple wks after I applied to Carvatise online, I recd UPS Priority 2-day Mail. Inside was a certified check made out to me in the amt of $3850.25 issued by Bank of America with their logo. There was also a letter in the pkg instructing me to text acknowledging receipt and that I understood the instructions which were to deposit the check in my bank acct (better to withdraw that amt over the counter) ... then text a copy of the deposit slip to the same number. I went to Bank of American and the Mgr could not verify if the check was real and I also checked with my bank mgr at Chase who told me the problem I could face if I deposited a phony check. So I decided against it and knew I had to contact the FTC and BBB. I gave FTC specific information - check #, remitter's name, text number & mailer's name. I hope these these agencies can stop these demons soon!
