I searched for a puppy for sale on Instagram. Came across castelo_pitbull_home and asked about one of the puppy photos. We conversed and decided on a puppy. They immediately wanted full payment of $1050, and weren’t going to send a sales agreement until full payment was made. They asked I send funds via CashApp, but that they had reached their limit and unable to receive anymore because they had “a lot of people making payments during the week.” Then I was asked to use Zelle. But had issues sending the full amount. I asked if we can split the payment into two transactions. The first one went through. And was asked to purchase a visa gift card from Walmart. I asked for a refund and asked for business proof nothing was provided. Got the seller on a Nextnow number. The call was very choppy and lots of echo. However, we agreed to split the payment in half and once the puppy was received, we would complete the payment via a completely different account thru CashApp. Not too long afterwards I received a tracking number for delivery details: www.countylivepetcourrierdelivery.com. The puppy was not delivered as regularly scheduled. Due to a Cite Permit needed at an airport in Colorado. For an additional fee of $1000 to ensure delivery of the puppy. I received a call from an Adam Smith that clearly had the same MO as the seller. I asked for proof of the puppy and said I would get a photo once I take care of the cite permit that was emailed. The email went straight to my junk folder. My name was incorrect and mentioned a pdf document that was attached. No pdf to be found but an image of a letter that was copied and pasted into the body of the email. This is when we knew for sure this was a scam.
