On August 19, 2021 I received an empty bottle with no label. The return address on the label was:
P.O. Box 6368
Rosemead, CA 91770
I looked at the shipping confirmation email I received. It states the company's name is Casual Road. When I went to its website, (casualroad.com), I found it only sold sports apparel, not liquor of any kind.
In the same email, I clicked on the "Contact us" link. It autofilled an email address to [email protected]. I wrote to the address, stating I had received an empty bottle with no label instead of a full bottle of Blanton's "Super Premium" Single Barrel Bourbon. I asked for an explanation. So far, I have received no response.
As I understand it, since the scammer shipped this to me via USPS, this qualifies as mail fraud, a federal offense. What are the chances such charges could be brought?
Will I be notified about any progress on an investigation or what the potential of a refund might be?
