This scammer has a well laid out website with a basic application that has suitable questions for individuals looking to purchase a new puppy. The individual maintained communication through texts that were not computer generated and seemed sincere over a week timeframe. They emailed multiple times and once it was decided that we felt comfortable making the purchase, funds of $2,000 were sent through a Venmo account to the scammer and they produced a receipt. Even after receiving our money, they kept continuing communication for several days. On the day to pick up the puppy, we made the trip to Louisville and after providing them an ETA, we received a text that said the following:

“PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE TRIP, WE JUST ARRESTED THIS SCAMMER FOR ONLINE FRAUD AND MONEY LAUNDERING, WE WILL BE GETTING BACK TO ALL VICTIMS FOR REFUNDS.”

We tried calling the no home number that had a (502) area code that matches those who live in the Louisville area and the phone was no longer in service. Upon showing up at this address and ringing the doorbell, no one came to the door. Finally, my husband checked the assessors website to see who the property address is titled under and of course, it did not match the names we were provided of: Jennifer and Corey Hall

This was a very disappointing experience even outside of losing our funds. We felt our due diligence had been completed, but now we know to only go to a breeder personally known by a close friend or family member. It’s a shame they put this much into something in order to steal from others when that knowledge and skill could be used to do good.
