The scam is that instead of telling the customer up front that they will need to give up their real physical phone number and other personal data to this company, presumably to be sold to spammers for revenue, so that the customer can make an informed decision as to whether they would like to make the purchase, they take your money first, on the expectation that you will receive what you paid for, and only then do they demand your personal data, once they already have your money and you no longer have any choice in the matter. I would certainly not have made this purchase had I known that I would have to surrender my privacy to get what I paid for, and I therefore consider my money lost.
