I am in a market looking for a new job since being laid off for work. As a result, I was thrilled when I saw email stating that my resume was approved and to join a meeting on Teams for an interview. However, I initially overlooked where the email was coming from until today when I went back and looked at the email adress and saw it was from a gmail account, which is attached below. However, since Sunday January 14, 2024, I've chating with someone who portrayed to be Tanya McNally. At first , it seemed legit because I looked up her name on LinkedIn which confirmed to be Tanya McNally.. So I decided to continue. We chatted again today on January 15, 2024, and was presented with a job offer letter that was emailed to me. However, things started to get weird and I should have paid closer attention. I guess because was so egar with looking and getting a job this situation got the best of me. However, I noticed when I received the email for the job offer, it came from Jana Mayfield, and I also searched her name in LinkedIn which I found so I continued to believe this was legit. However, I started to become suspicious when I could not respond back to this email address [email protected], which the job offer email. In addition, I was provided a check to deposit for the purchase of my work from equipment. I did not realize until after I deposited the check something did not sit well with me especially when I was given a this email address [email protected] to confirm that the check was deposited, which is currently on hold with my bank. I chatted back with Tanya letting her know that something isn't right as I began to search Centene website and found information regarding recruiting fraud and advised her Centene Coporation never gives checks to their candidates and she said not to candidates but they do to their employees and she said that I am now an employee. She also asked me if I can send $100.00 for a time tracker for purchase from their vendor via PayPal, Apple Pay or Cash app. I advised that I will not send any form of payment to anyone. Since that statement I have not heard back. I will send the chat records and I cannot believe I was taken advantage of. I am very disappointed in myself for going along with this. Btw, initially I was not skeptical of the check since the address matched Centene Corporation. I cannot believe that I have allowed myself to be bamboozled and compromised my bank account in desperation to find a job to support my family.
