I received a call and the caller ID said "CenterPoint Enr" so I answered. It was a recording saying that its cpe and letting me know that I owe money and my power will be disconnected in 45 minutes. It then said to press 1 to speak to someone, so I did. A man immediately answered and said "how can I help you?" and I said "Hi, I am trying to figure out why I am getting this call.." and he promptly hung up.

Individual pretending to be with CenterPoint Energy called about service disconnect unless payment for $194.11 was made today. Caller was using CenterPoint Energy caller ID and CenterPoint phone number. I told the caller that my account was with a different provider and that I was set up with auto pay. They insisted I make my payment today. I asked them to hold while I checked my account and then asked for a call back number. They referred me to the number showing in my caller ID and then hung up. I checked my account and verified it was current. I called the number back and it went to CenterPoint Energy call center and requested that I call back during regular business hours to get account information since today is a holiday (Memorial Day). These scammers are using/spoofing CenterPoint Energy caller ID and phone number.

I received an automated call claiming that my service was going to be discontinued as a result of delinquent payments. It asked me to push a number to speak to a person, so I did. A man answered immediately and asked me to verify the address or account number and then told me that I had missed two payments and had a balance of $200+ on my account. I told him I didn't live at the address that I gave him and he became angry and hung up on me mid-sentence.

This scammer is using a number spoofer to hide his actual phone number. When I called the number back a woman answered the phone. She seemed alarmed and told me she was a private citizen and had no idea what I was talking about. The phone number used by the scammer had the same area code and middle three numbers as my own phone number.

I was called and told my power was to be turned off by the end of the day if I did not pay my balance. It was from a previous rented home we left and closed the account on May 30, 2018. I called them, the first man was rude and raised his voice at me and I hung up. I called back and asked for a manager. Got a manager and was told I owed $498. I told him that prior to paying him anything I wanted to see all invoices and statements on the account for the three months prior to closing the account. He wouldn't send it to my email account but instead asked for me to hold on for instructions on how to obtain that information. I hung up and blocked the number from my phone.

Received a robo call claiming to be from CenterPoint Energy. They required payment within 30 minutes for my power to stay on. They gave a number to call: 800-717-6531 or to press 1 to speak to representative. I pressed 1 and was connected to a representative at a busy call center. I asked for more details on his company so I could report him as a scammer and he hung up. CenterPoint will NEVER make a call asking for money!
