February 2023: Flood resulting in damage that was visible and non-visable to the eye. Assured my mother and eye that bathroom and basement would be redone to ensure no structure damage and/or molds or other possible issues that could breathing problems would occur. Played into the fact that I was a single mother and lived with my mother who was recently divorced after a long marriage to my father. Throughout this period of time, I slept on couch and was on medical leave due to chronic condition and back injury. Adjuster's name and contact information was given to us by owner of Central Plumbing Service. Communication was inconsistent and non-existent unless initiated by us. 3 different appraisers came and very little information was provided to us, all were shocked by damage and information provided to them. Questions were asked by us and often we did not know how to answer. We were told a pipe burst causing damage in the basement and the bathroom. After months of calling the homeowners insurance ourselves and getting supervisors involved a check was given directly to the adjuster. Mother asked if it was a good deal. Adjuster took their cut and provided mother the remainder amount. Owner of company came over towards end of October andwe created an invoice that was detailed for the bathroom with a price of 8500. The deal was to pay $4000 that day and the remainder when the bathroom was done. He told us one individual was going to come the following week and the job would be done in 7 days. The guy didn't have a copy of the invoice, didn't follow the invoice, shared a story about how he is overworked and takes care of all his children all the time and has no time to spend with them. Appeared to know what he was doing, but always asked me to run to the hardware store for lights, paint, electrical things. Things were not completed and/or not even done. The job started around Halloween and the gentleman said he was almost finished around Thanks Giving. We had a hole in the wall, ceilings not finished, doors that fell off the wall and made it so we couldn't access our washer and dryer, and electrical work that was a fire hazard. Not to mention he convinced us rather than redoing the walls textured paint was a better solution. I asked for an updated invoice and an adjustment in price. My mother gave the employee the check that day after he insisted on it and assured her he would be back. After over a month of calling and no response from the owner, we found a different contracting company for the basement that completed the basement in a week and told us they had never heard of Central Plumbing Service. They did not want to do the work on the bathroom until we spoke to an attorney or the owner sent someone over to do the work. I called the owner and informed him that we hired someone else for the basement and he needs to come over and to something or we want our money back. He came over and informed us that the employee was fire and he wants to make it right and he was sending his best employee. He took pictures and assured me we were going to redo the invoice. I kept asking him to explain to me how 8500 dollars was spent on the work that was done and he ignored me. The new employee was 6 hours late. This is a problem for me. I am a psychotherapist and everytime someone works in the house I have to cancel patients. That is 150-200 an hour. I have lost thousands of dollars because of the situation at hand. Working virtually since due to my medical issues is great, but when I can't work, I can't shower in the bathroom that was being redone because of my medical issues, this creates several issues.....The new employee was great. The old employee messed with the electrical in the bathroom causing several issues not only for the bathroom, but the kitchen and the rest of the house. He wanted the owner of the company to get an electrican out to the house to look at everything before any of the corrective construction began. He also needed approval from the owner to order new doors that would fit correctly and not fall off when doing laundry. That was over 7 weeks ago. When I was looking up the address of the company last night to send a certified letter requesting completion of the job or returning the money his name popped up in a recent arrest and multiple scams over the last several months. I then found the adjusters cell phone and googled it and it was linked to a different adjuster firm than the one that the email is linked to.My uncle called this morning because the owner will not return phone calls from me or my mother and informed him he will not be coming back to the house, speaking to us, or paying us. I am tired of doing the right thing and those that are causing harm continuing to get away with it. We need that money! We followed the procedures and trusted this person!!! How do people like him continue to steal from innocent people who are in situations like me and my mother?
