CEPSA Imposter Reports & Reviews (2)

I was offered a job and told that the interview would be conducted through Telegram by a Michael Jameson. He has the CEPSA logo as his profile picture. I was informed CEPSA is a "healthcare" company and that they have an office in Long Beach and are expanding to open more offices. After a few basic questions I was informed I was "accepted for the position" (within 10 minutes) and asked for some basic info, full name, address, phone. I was told I'd be sent a check via FedEx in order to purchase a laptop and printer from their approved vendor, as it would come with the company logo on it, and to check in the next morning.
I did my research online and found that CEPSA is a company in Madrid that is in the oil and gas industry, not healthcare. They're not hiring in the U.S. at all.
My guess is that the W4 paperwork I was going to be sent to fill out is where the major fraud plays in, as a way to get my social security number and other info. Whether or not they were going to really send a check via FedEx I don't know, but even if they did, purchasing only through their "approved vendor" just means they're getting their money back and not sending you anything.
When I confronted Michael the next morning that I had checked out their website and why is their website about oil and gas when he said they're about healthcare, he deleted the entire conversation immediately and stopped responding. I let him know I'd be reporting them for fraud.
This one was slick, and a little harder to catch, since they don't ask for your social or to run a credit report right off the bat. But the red flags are there.
The way they conducted the interview (via telegram IM messages, no in person conversation at all) and then "hired" me within 10 minutes is a huge red flag. And even when I said I was only familiar with one of maybe 5 programs they use, they said no big deal we'll train you. Hiring managers look for people who are the best fit, not people they still have to train. Anyways, lots of red flags, and a new and creative scam. Be careful.

I was contacted via text message and was told they seen my information on a job posting website. I was then told I needed to download Telegram Messaging app and was given contact information to use once I set an account up. I had an interview “IM” in this app. It was convincing, considering they talked about the company mainly and had an interview questionnaire at the end. Being contacted and the pay was a red flag for me. But I didn’t want to lose a great opportunity so I didn’t give out sensitive details about myself. When interview was concluded, I was asked for basic information such as name, address, phone number and email. I received job offer following day and hiring paperwork- NDA, code of conduct, and W4. I followed the instructions and added the supervisor assigned to and was told I needed to print forms, sign them, scan or screenshot them back to HR email when done. Since time I received the first text, I did an internet search and the company came up for Albuquerque, NM and the company website was legit. Regardless of this, I was weary about fact I was contacted by online app, the pay was inflated compared to verified companies hiring in area, end the fact I was told they were in process of building offices near me within next few weeks yet the main offices are in Spain, Madrid. I was told I would be doing data entry and office admin work remotely but I wasn’t comfortable with fact this company is trying to expand into our county but what could I possibly have to enter data for. When I was told they wanted me to send in hiring paperwork, I knew I wouldn’t be comfortable doing so. I went to the Cepsa website and vetoed they are a real company and the details I was given marched those on website However, upon further research, I verified they had no job posts for United States or the position I was hired for. I emailed them through the website and asked if they could verify if job offer was legit and explained I would be waiting for a response from them before I sent the sensitive information required ASAP. It was the second contact; supervisor assigned to help me fill out papers and set me up with training was brief with greetings and asked for me to print, sign, scan and return to an HR department I never received contact information for. I received a response from an automated companies email but it was to let me know they received my inquiry and I would be notified of an answer shortly. But I went to their job openings on website and none are in United States.
