A few weeks before I moved, I completed an official USPS change of address card and hand-delivered it to my local post office. Somehow USPS lost the change of address card, and my mail was not being forwarded. When I contacted the post office, I was instructed to submit a new change of address form. Due to covid-19 restrictions, I did not want to go into the post office again so I went online. I did a google search for 'change of address' and found the site (ChangeofAddress.us.com) thinking it was the official USPS website. I submitted the completed form and entered my credit card information for the $1.05 charge. A few days later, I received an email from ChangeofAddress.us.com to confirm the change of address order. Interestingly, they did not list the fee they charged on the confirmation. When I received my credit card statement several weeks later, I noticed this company charged me $59.95 for the change of address. I contacted my credit card company immediately to dispute the charge. My credit card company contacted ChangeofAddress.us.com and followed up several weeks later that they could not reverse the charge. Since then, I have read how many people are being scammed by sites that mimic the USPS website. Not only do companies like this charge the consumer a ridiculous amount, but they do not perform the service. I decided to contact my credit card company once more to dispute the charge and am awaiting their response. In the meantime, I am filing a complaint about ChangeofAddress.us.com with the Better Business Bureau, in the hopes that other people will not be taken advantage of.
