Keeps recharging my account $79.95 to change my address. I called and they said they’ll refund my money, and then took out another $79.95!!

- Oakland, CA, USA

I went to the USPS webpage to change my address and was redirected to changmyaddress.org. Using the same form as the USPS uses to change your address and then charge a $1 fee to confirm your address change, changemyaddress.org then charged me $79.95. Only if you look deep into their small print through multiple pages do you find a note saying they are not the USPS and they will charge you.

Website looks like *** site where you change your address, but they charge $79.95 for the services and do not actually change your address.

They set up their site to perfectly mimic the us postal service website and charge $80 for an address change that they never actually perform, and which normally costs $2. Make sure you're on the usps site when performing an address change.

The website looks like it is part of the US Postal Service. All I wanted to do was change my address, when I went to check my bank account there was a $79 charge from Changemyaddress.org. I called to get my money back and a man answered the phone with attitude and a speech already ready.( Obviously they get these calls all the time!). After arguing he charged me $1.50 to change my address. Total scam!!! Stay clear!!!

This company erroneously overcharges your credit card when you place an address change order. The minute I called to dispute the charge on my cc, they offered a 50% reduction and when I said I never authorized a 79.95 charge to change my address, they immediately said they would process a credit for all but $1.95. I agreed only because it would cost me more money to stay on the phone.

BEWARE,

they also offer to place you on the Do Not Call List. My unsolicited calls have gone through the roof since supposedly unsubscribing so they are probably selling your information too!

we went on the ** *** website to do a change of address and submitted our credit card to pay the $1.00 charge and thought we were done. Three weeks later I noticed that a charge of $79.00 was levied on my CC by a changemyaddress.org.

We had never received any notification that we had employed their services via email or otherwise.

We had to call our CC to reverse the charges. This business practice is a total scam and fraud and those in charge of the company should be charged with a felony for interfering with US mail.

This website pops up as an option to change your address when you *** search. I thought I was changing my address with the USPS- since the company disguises itself. Usually it costs $1 to change your address with USPS- this website is a scam and charged $80. When I called to get a refund, they were very rude and I had to fight for my money back. They said their terms and conditions were clear. No where was it clear that it would cost $80 (they probably hide that in the fine print). A total scam taking advantage of people already in the stressful experience of moving.

In the process of moving, I went online to change my address with the post office. I had been told in the past it costs about $6 to change your address with USPS. Clicking one of the first links that popped up was my fault, but I assumed I was redirected by the post office to a third party who handles address changes. On the site ChangeMyAddress.org it asked for address information, promised to remove my phone number from solicitation lists, etc. It was a red flag when the site asked for my credit card info before displaying the total cost of the address chagne, but I thought it would show the total and ask for order confirmation on the next page, as most websites do. That did not happen. Not only did it immediately process my card for $79.95, but on the email "receipt" it did not indicate the price to be paid, or what the near $80 was going towards.

When I called to cancel the whole thing, the rep tried to pitch me a partial refund with full service, I said no, then she tried to pitch me a $10 package, I said no, then she said they would refund all of the money but $1.95, and I said no. I told her I wanted a full refund and to be removed from their system entirely. I then asked why they don't display cost information on the website or in the email "receipt" and she fully ignored the question saying, "So we've issued your refund, can I do anything else for you?" I asked if she could hear me, she said yes, I asked her to answer my question and she said, "I don't build the website, but the cost is definitely listed in the terms and conditions." To which I asked, "You mean the fine print that is pages and pages long?" She said yes. I replied, "I know its not your fault, and I do hope you have a great day, but that is a terrible way to run a business."

I thought I was on the USPS change my address site. It said at check out the charge was $1.00. My account was charged $79.95. I called them and said I want it credited back to my account. He said they would credit all but $1.69. And that was after I refused his service. THIS is very misleading and I know there was no where on that website that stated any charge for $79.95.

Mistook this website for official USPS website for address change. They charge $80 for a $1 service and automatically sign you up for monthly subscription fees. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I went online to change my address because I just moved. The website was the first to come up when I searched change your address and seemed legit. But I should've known better when it asked for payment but did not say how much it was charging me. I knew there was a $1 fee included with changing your address online though so I didn't think too much of it. The fake website charged me $80 to change my address! I immediately cancelled my card and will dispute the charge. No website should charge that much or take advantage of a $1 service or not tell you how much they're charging. I feel silly for continuing to pay anyway, but the website looked very credible and it being a .org made me feel safe as well. Don't fall for it! After researching some more this happens all the time and theirs are the websites that come up first in the search. We need to make sure websites like this are stopped. So make sure if you are changing your address it is through the USPS website only.

I am trying to change my address online and after doing a "change of address" search I clicked on a website I thought was legit. I have changed my address in the past and am charged $1 each time I do it. This particular website charged me $79.95! Absolutely outrageou

I went to what I thought was the USPS website and was told I would be charge $1 for a change or address only to find I was not only charged the $1 but I was also charge $79.95.

This website claims to offer the service of changing your address and lists no charges on the forms you fill out, giving the impression that your information is being used to verify your identity. The terms and conditions are not shown except for at the bottom of the home page. I was charged $79.95 (with future monthly payments of $29.99) for a service that costs $1, and I was never even shown a billing page or receipt (I had to look at my bank statement to see how much was taken out).

I went online to change my mailing address because I am moving to another state. This is the website that pops up 1st when I put in USPO. I thought it was USPO. It tried to charge me $79.00 to change my mailing address. I called them immediately to dispute the charge. They refunded my all but $1.95 to change my address. I thought all was ok. I am still at my old address and am still getting mail here. The request was done on 6/4/18, scheduled date to forward was 6/15/18 and it is now 6/26/18. I called the REAL post office and was told the old address was not entered correctly. I called the fake USPO company and was told I need to call the REAL USPO then they hung up on me. Really rude also. (12:24pm 6/26/18). 71 negative complaints listed on this company. A definite SCAM>

Beware of the change my address. Org site it is run by a scam artist who charges you 7999 to change your address because you the consumer are too dumb to realize that he pays Google to be the top thing found on a search and then he scams you out of $80 and signed you up for several other things that you do not wish to be a part of

This website comes up first when you search "USPS Change my address online". IT is not clear that it is not USPS and in very small print states they will charge 79.99 for it's scam services. It is very misleading and offers services available by USPS for $1. I called them as I had charges on my credit card and asked them to cancel all services. They repeatedly tried to get me to agree to keep some services, including "the USPS change of address service for which the USPS will charge 1.75). This is also incorrect as the post office only charges $1. Very deceptive business practices! I filed multiple (3) change of addresses before I realized it was the wrong site.

i needed to change my address with the post office. i used the bing search to search "change address post office". the first website, in bold letters, is this website. it gives the appearance of the official usps change of address form. i entered all of my info to change my address, including billing info. luckily my credit card fraud dept declined the charge of over $79! i looked closer, and the site, in very small print, explains that they will charge you 79 dollars, plus monthly charges, for some nominal, bogus extra services. they have a bbb rating of F, but honestly im shocked that they are allowed to do business at all, and that bing puts them at the top of their search results. this scam should be illegal, especially since they are so closely mimicking a government website.

I thought I was changing my address with USPS, since I have always done so. Everything with changemyaddress.org seemed legit and they were going to charge me a $1 for the service (which I've always paid with USPS) so I did not suspect any fowl play. I started paying bills when I saw a charge of $79.95 on me credit card under changemyaddress.org. I was livid, since I did not authorize this amount and only the $1 USPS charges. I called them and they refunded me 50% back of my money. They were very misleading since they put that they were with USPS. Be careful and make sure you are really on the USPS website.
