I am a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant who was contacted by Alisha Verdi concerning the purchase of Mary Kay products for her daughters upcoming wedding. When giving a total of the purchase she indicated she needed to send me a check from her finance person. A couple of days before the check arrived in my mail box she contacted me to let me know her finance person had made a mistake and actually wrote me a check for the amount she owed to the wedding planner. She said she knew she could trust me to cash the check and send her the remainder of the money and I was to keep the portion for the Mary Kay order. I have received the check today and called the issuing bank who has told me not to cash the check because it is a scam and she knew it was when I mentioned the company issuing the check and the fact I was to send money back. Told me to shred the check!

There have been

reports of someone using the name and address of Cherokee Instruments,

Inc to place and orders, and sending checks for payment, often for more

than the agreed upon amount. Please take caution with any correspondence

you receive claiming to be from this company.
