I was in need of my chimney being cleaned, I found a company to come out and do it. When they got there I was told my chimney was extremely bad and needed to be chemically cleaned. At first the price was $500.00-$600.00 the tech went to his truck and came back and told me $860.00. this would be a two day process first day they would pour chemicals down my chimney the second day they would need to be inside my home to do the sweep. I had no knowledge at the time on chimney cleanings, I gave them a check for half the amount and would pay balance after job was done. After they left I did a little research and made some phone calls realizing I was completely being scammed with the price should be $300.00 and no chemicals. I then called and canceled my service for them to come out two days later and canceled my check. They came out to my home three days later and told me my chimney was safe to burn the services were completed and I needed to pay them, after they admitted I canceled my service. I had another company come out two days later and nothing had been done to the chimney at all and they proceeded to complete the job. The first company did absolutely no work and demanded they be paid threatened me with court until I told them I had another company come out and have pictures of before and after cleaning showing nothing had been done.
