Woman called said she was from my financial institution quoted me my account numbers birth date address etc I agreed as they were all correct and I thought if they had all this info they must be the bank, she said she was transferring me to security or the like and transferred me. Next the gentleman who came on to phone after a wait and music said my card was alerted because my limits were over rided ( I have limits of 500.00 per day for debit card which is a visa) and were verifying the purchase. I said no of course he said it already went thru and they would need to file fraud to recover my funds. By then I was in a panic as I’m a housekeeper which takes me about 8 months of saving to amass 5600.00, so I gave him the information he wanted me to verify… after 10 minutes and being on hold he came back to say was a mix up transpossed numbers on my card not to worriy. Whew! I hung up then the next day went to do month end banking my savings and chequing accounts both down to 100.00 all my hard earned two years of scrimping and saving gone, completely destroyed my confidence and crushed me. Worst experience then to have bank tell me all the things I did wrong feeling just humiliation and crying. I honestly fell for it hook line and sinker, these people were very professional sounding, had my information already so I accepted it was my bank calling. Don’t be fooled it’s devastating
