He was reluctant to give me his number so I could text him when I got there but I gave him my phone number. He texted me asking was I there yet thereby giving me his phone # in my text thread. Which by the way he has since deleted entire thread in my phone, I know this is possible. The only way I can tell you his alleged name, Christopher Lewis is I told my friend in NYC his name + number in case he murdered me as I am a disabled 66 year old woman on a walker alone.
When I arrived I texted him asking if he could meet me there to do a walk through. He replied he was not available. He then texted " Do you love it?" I replied " It has a nice yard". Then he tells me to go on Messenger. I replied I do not have or do Messenger. Then he texts asking me to go on Facebook. I replied " I do not have Facebook on my phone , been scammed too many times". Then he texts " When I get home to my ' system' go on Facebook and connect with him to go forward to next step".
I was suspect all along because 630 area code is in Illinois. It was then I disengaged with communicating any further. My friend found the Placerville rental home on Realtor.com with same pictures with a $2300 rental fee so he copied pics and address from their site.
I know this kind of scamming is all too common. I did report this to Realtor.com by email. I understand there is little anyone can go on because scammers are savy, use fake names and burner phones. I just feel it is my civic duty to report these things.
Internet scamming , ransomware, freezing your phone and laptop is all I have been through from October through December. I had so many bogus charges racked up on my bank debit card I had to freeze my card five times.
He did not get any money out of me, he is onto his next victim. Next step was going to be him telling me to put a deposit of $1600 or $1600 plus first months rent via some money method to secure the rental. Just wanted to report this. Understand you are doing your best to combat these scammers it is aa difficult job.
Sincerely
