Unsolicited letter received offering settlement from (possible) relative with same last name who died without a will, so we will receive proceeds if we make sure to "use our utmost privacy" in this matter. David requested to be contacted me "only by email or fax" and we will be "processed legally and protected from any infraction of the law" (whatever that means!). This letter came from David Mullervich, claiming to work for CIBC, Canada. I got on CIBC, Candaa Website and into the questions chat room and asked if he was employed there. The only response I got was to "click here to register an account that can handle e-trade transfers." I am not sure exactly how they make their money but I am not "registering" and giving them any of my personal information. I have read through 3 Webpages of CIBC reviews and evals and have come to the conclusion that this institution is far from having the best interests of anyone in mind. Can't reach them by phone, no legitimate arbitration department, etc. I do not have a scanner, so cannot send you a copy but will mail if requested.

I don't have an CIBC account. But I received a message from a private number. The message says:

ATTN C.I.B.C. customer, your debit access starting with 4506 is disabled. Log-in here to fix. http://cibc.debitonlinereset7.com/

Received phone call this morning at 6:00 am with caller Id of C.I,B,C. When I answerd was told that They were calling from the fraud section of C.I.B.C. and that my card had been used to send an transfer to India a few seconds before. Was asked if I had done this. I confirmed that I had not. Then he told me that he would have to cancel the card and my money would be returned. Before he could ask for any information I said I would call C.I.B.c. myself . He said very well and then silence I waited for him to give me the number for fraud and security but nothing was said and hung up

This was texted to me, I am not a customer of this bank and don't have an account there.

Received an email. See attached screen shot. I do not have any dealings with CIBC at all. I did not click on the link.

I received a text message from CIBC Bank saying the bank has noticed unusual activity on my online account.please verify your account by replying to this alert. www.cibcsecureonline.ru/cibc-canada/cibc .

I DO NOT have a CIBC account.
