Claims to be Boston Scientific Reports & Reviews (1)

- San Antonio, TX, USA

I posted my resume on zip recruiter and I received an email from a woman named *** *** stating there was an administrative assistant/data entry at home position available to work with her company at Boston Scientific. She went above and beyond to make this scam believable by sending an email to schedule an interview but the interview was through messaging on Google Hangouts (the indicator that this is a job hoax). I thought it would've been through web cam. After interview she told me to send a form to verify my identity. I sent an automobile insurance bill which verified my home address. She said that the HR department would contact me within 24 hours. The next morning I received an "employment letter" from the HR director, *** ***, that I had to sign and email back to HR and *** ***. It was a letter congratulating me for being picked for the position. I followed the rules. Next thing *** *** had me do was a pre-training assignment with 4 task questions. I answered the first 3 and the last was to write an article on office responsibility, data entry, and customer service no less than 100 words on each topic. Emailed that to her within the 2 hour time frame she gave me. Then she stated she would inform me when the check was sent for me to receive to get office supplies and within the amount will be $50 bonus for me for completing the pre-training. She sent me the tracking number a day or two later, however, their was a package exception and the package was returned to the sender. She informed me that HR had a technical issue and requested to have the package sent back. Two days later she sent me the tracking number and I received the fake check the next morning. She told me to deposit it by mobile and take a screen shot of deposit and send it to her. I told her no I'll go to the bank. I knew the check was fake but I went along with it and told her that I will let her know when I went to the bank. The next day she said I needed to deposit the check because I was behind schedule. I told her that wasn't my fault. She said I should take responsibility because I was now apart of the company. I asked to speak to my "supervisor" on the phone whom I never had contact with. She said he will call me. Never received a call that day. U asked why I didn't get the call she said that my supervisor, *** ***, was a very busy man and he will call when he is less busy. I asked her to call me and she never responded. The next morning I got a call from a man that stated his name was David and he worked with Boston Scientific. He asked me why I was refusing to deposit the check. I stayed that if he didn't send me a fake check I would go deposit it. He asked, "fake check?" I said "yes your check is fake!" He then replied, "I will get back to you" and hung up. I never heard anything from him again, obviously. I'm sure he's trying to scam someone else right now and I hope this will stop him.
