A quote request was received via text. In the quote request they wanted to know if paying by cc was acceptable. The wording of the text was suspicious. We provided the quote. They accepted immediately and again wanted to know if they could pay by cc and if they could they wanted us to do a favour for them. They went on to say the owner of the property being serviced had only received 90% of the sale price from them at that point and the owner did not have a cc. They asked if we would accept their prepaid cc for $4000. From the $4000 we could take our payment in full together with a $160 tip and send the owner of the property in question $3200 which was the balance left on the prepaid cc. Needless to say, we declined. We wanted other small business to be aware that they might be targeted too.
