Originally, they reached out via text regarding a job application I found on LinkedIn for a remote data entry job. Then they directed me to teams where they conducted the interview. After the interview, they let me know that I was hired and that on boarding will continue and that they will be sending all the necessary equipment for the remote position. They also sent an email with all the on boarding information, including things like I9 forms direct deposit forms W-4 forms and also a work hiring letter. The next day on boarding, I was transferred to another teams chat for the training instructor where they then tried to get me to pay for a laptop and iPad after they Said that it was company policy to pay for credit card balances, which was very weird. They also asked me to use my credit card to purchase equipment and then have that equipment mailed to them. Also they wanted me to pay with a PayPal if I didn’t want to go buy it myself. At this point, I asked to have a video call with the training manager and they said that they weren’t able to let me know that it was most likely a scam. I said I wasn’t comfortable and they went cold. I have all the conversations on teams. I had already sent them confidential information so I caught it a little too late.
