A relative was approached via Facebook regarding a remote employment opportunity. I reached out to the recruiter and was immediately prompted into an online interview. The interview was conducted by a burner account under the name Merry Scott. They wanted to do the interview on Google Hangout. The interview consisted of 10 basic questions regarding my availability, info about me, etc. I started noticing very unprofessional behavior such as grammatical errors, spelling errors, and company location inconsistencies. I researched the company as this was going on and noticed on their website they had 3 different headquarter locations that differed from what the recruiter had directly told me. When I looked up the addresses listed online they were not at any office or complex building but were all located in parks, trailer parks or isolated houses. Upon further investigation I found an identical website titled Stonelite Services. This website had matching information and identical addresses listed. I questioned the recruiter about the location inconsistencies and their response was simply "yes due to the pandemic" which avoided answering my question. I then asked for an exact address of the company they were claiming to work for and received no response. The account they were using to communicate with me is now deactivated. Please be aware of the potential scams going around. The person responsible for this has done this at least twice, and potentially more times. They appear as a casual recruiter and they don't ask for any personal information. It was only when I started to dig into them that I noticed the inconsistencies.
