On September 1st 2021, I attempted to call JetBlue for travel changes. Instead of going directly to Jetblue.com and get their customer service number, I googled JetBlue customer service phone number. In return, I got a number where I clicked on and the call went through. Someone got the phone pretending to be from reservations. He confirmed my number and he gave me a direct number to him, incase the call dropped. I explained that I needed to do a change to a ticket I had purchased. He then explained that because I had not bought the insurance they won't be able to change the flight, unless I had done the change within 24 hours. I had to go through their protocol, which was they will reimburse the money I paid for the initial ticket but I had to pay for the other ticket. After back and forth, I agreed to proceed. He then tells me that because I had originally bought a ticket as a economy seat, they will only be able to reimburse the taxes paid. What they can do is sell me a corporate seat which is the seats for the flight attendance or for corporate people. He then tells me it can be for the same amount I originally paid for which was $500, but I had to pay with a corporate card. He asked if I have a corporate cared, I said no. He then said he can tell me where I can get one. He asked for my zip code and referred me to the nearest Walgreens. He said he will stay on the phone while I do this process so I won't loose my seat. Thinking he was helping and I was trying to resolve this issue for a family member, I went a head and followed his instructions. I went to Walgreens having him on speaker. He told me of a couple of cards I can buy that are corporate, but don't remember at this moment the others, but the Apple corporate card. It was an everyday apple card the one I bought. He then tells me to put $500 on the card. I went through the process and purchase the card for $500. I went back to my car and then he told me to take a picture of the card and send it to him to the phone number he previously gave me. I went a head with it. He then tells me to wait for him to process the transaction. He then comes and tells me that his supervisor is asking for me to pay the full amount for the corporate seat and asked me to pay the full amount of $700. I had already paid $500, so he was asking for an additional $200 and he will reimburse the rest of the money. After back and forth and arguing about the additional money, I went back inside Walgreens and bought another Apple card for $200. I went back to the car and did the same process of sending him a picture of the card. He then tells me to wait for him to process the purchase. He comes back and tells me that he will send me an email confirmation in 24 hours. I started questioning him and asked for a confirmation number, he said he couldn't give it to me until tomorrow. He then finally gave me a confirmation number and I logged into JetBlue to confirm the ticket and the number he gave me didn't return any information. Obviously, it was a scam. I started arguing with the person and he hanged up. I called back and the number was out of order. I later googled the number and it gave me the name of the company Cloud Travel Wings. Not sure if that is correct or not. The number I originally called was 844-480-0245. I know it was my fault for believing in such a fraud. I have always been very careful towards any kind of fraud, but I still do not understand why I went through this. I called Apple and they did confirm that the funds were redeemed and I filled a claim. I called JetBlue and explained what happened, of course they said they would never ask to do that type of transaction. They were going to file a claim as well, but couldn't help me any further. I called my bank and filled a claim as well. I am very disappointed and upset at myself that I allowed this to happen. I am a decent person, a mother and wife that works very hard to be there for my family. I know that I may not be able to get back the money, but I truly hope there is some type of way that these people can get discovered and pay what they do to honest working people. If you do investigate this issue I hope I can get an update.
