Type of a scam Bank/Credit Card Company Imposter Scam
The letter indicates it is a service to update account information on your employee / customer's direct deposit/automatic payment.
The catch? No such person has ever done business or been employed with the company and is not located within where we would have worked with or done business with them under a different name.
The letter offers a QR code or website (https://mybillswitch.com) to visit along with a completion code.
Included is a copy of a person's check complete with banking account number etc.
I spoke briefly with the bank that was listed on the check and was told if it started with account number 248 it was likely fraud.
Unfortunately I am unable to tell if the person on the check in the letter is real and needs to be warned or part of the scam. Nor can I tell if it was designed to scam us or them as I refused to click on the links or email their address nor call their number.
