I put up a mattress on sale on Craigslist and had a man text me saying he was interested and that he would send me a check. Once I got the check he was very pushy about me depositing it as soon as possible. The check was for way more money than the mattress was worth but he said the rest was for his movers who would come pick up the mattress. I felt pressured so I deposited the check and he texted me repeatedly to check if it had cleared. After 2 days it cleared and he insisted I go that same day to Walmart to transfer the money to his workers. I said I was busy and that I would go the next day and the next morning he started texting me impatiently. I finally went to Walmart and did the transfer to some Tierra Washington in Dallas, TX. As soon as I sent him a picture of the pin from the transfer he stopped replying. He had seemed sketchy from the start so I went to the police and they said no crime had been committed and not to worry about it. I kept texting the guy asking when his movers were going to come pick up the mattress but he didn't reply until two days later, simply saying he would ask them. A week later or so he texted me asking "how are you?", to which I replied asking again when the mattress would be picked up. After 2 weeks I got an email from the bank saying the check had been reversed and that I had negative money on my bank account. I went to the police and called my bank but they said they couldn't do anything because I had "spent" that money. I did not spend it, I wired it back to him and lost whatever was in my bank account and the rest was put as a debt.
