For the interview the person i thought was the recruiter, asked me to get the app “hangouts” it was mainly a chat interview which was odd to me, no video call or phone call. Then they started right away in the “interview” asking lots of questions like past jobs, skill set, etc.. typical job interview questions.. then they had 2 sections of questions they wanted answered.
Several were red flags in my mind. They were copy pasting i believe off an actual company website. They went on telling me about the company and the job position as Customer service. Said that it would be a work from home position, the company would provide the equipment, and continued to tell me about training and the pay. Said i would be paid $35.00 per hour during regular working hours and $20 per hour during training. Payment would be biweekly by direct deposit or you could pick weekly pay where they would mail it to you. Continued to tell me about the work schedules, talked about benefits, and then asked me briefly to explain about the company from what they had told me and from me looking at their site. They continued asking a lot of questions , tried to ask more personal in-depth questions about me, things like what bank do i use- saying they need to check to see if its one the company is linked to. Asked for my hobbies,etc.. eventually said you have done well so far and seem like a good fit for the this job. Said they needed me to hold (30 minutes) online while forwarding our conversation to the head department to enable them to see if i was committed and good for this job. Said they would return shortly when they had my interview score on his desk. I was to remain on standby and make sure my hangouts chat was on available. Came back saying i was a good fit. When trying to ask what the next steps were, there were lots of pauses where i heard nothing at all.. eventually told me about how i would receive paperwork. Kept repeating himself over and over. Told me about software i would need for a job that was not relevant. He wa very specific in what kind of equipment the company was going to send me either thru fedex or usps.
But the main thing that was a giant red flag for me is when he wanted my bank information. He asked me for which bank do i use, what my account number was, and even asked me for my online banking username and password. Said that they needed to deposit a Mini amount to my account and then track how i spend it. They needed this information ASAP in order to get my materials and be able to start training right away. With out it , he said it would take longer to start the position. Another flag for me was when he said all my “HR document and paperwork’s” would be coming along with my work materials. The payment they would send would cover all work materials, and supplies needed to start the training and orientation. Said that the company needed my complete full name, mailing address (said a po box is not valid), date of birth, cell phone number, and email address.
I made several excuses saying i did not have my banking information readily available. He was not happy with that and kept pressing for this information.
These people or maybe it’s just one person i am not sure, really know how to get the personal info out of people. They start with all social media— they reached out to me on facebook. I also saw them on Indeed while job searching. The interview was thru google chat or hangouts. Where normally a company would do a zoom call or a phone call with you, or better yet, an in person interview!
Watch your back. This guy is good, please don’t fall for it.
