"CO Certificate Service" sent a letter after business entity was formed. The official looking letter stated a requirement to send a check for $70 to obtain CO Certificate of Good Standing. However this Certificate is available free of charge through the government website.

Days after opening a business in Colorado, I received a suspicious document by mail intimating that my company needed to pay $70 for a document that the Colorado Secretary of State will provide me for FREE. The document sent to me, looked suspiciously like an official document and you have to read the fine print to learn that they are offering an alleged service and are not associated with the State of Colorado. This operation is a scam designed to either separate people from $70, or to gain additional information about the company, or compromise credit card payments, etc.

CO Certificate Service sent an official looking letter right after I set up my business with the CO sec of state. The letter is purposefully misleading to make it seem I need to pay $70 to get a certificate of good standing even though they are free to get online through the gov't website. In the FINE PRINT they say they are not affiliated with any government agency, but they make it looks urgent with a pease respond by date. PLEASE REPORT. From my research this company is doing this in most states in the US by capitalizing on new business owners.
