This young man posted ads in multiple Facebook Marketplace sites in Germantown, TN, Collierville, and north MS for heating and air installation. I contacted him via FB messenger, and he agreed to install an AC compressor for me. He came to pick up the cash money to buy a compressor, and he said he would do the install that weekend. (Two weeks ago.) He appeared honest and knowledgeable of heating and air, so I trusted him to do the installation. He didn’t show up for his appointment that weekend. So I messaged him, and he messaged back that he had to take his grandmother to the ER.
Further conversation set up an other appointment the next weekend. Again he did not show up, and after repeated attempts to call and message, he’s unresponsive. I have screen shots of all of the conversation on Messenger. Now he’s put a block on my phone number. So if he was slick enough to fool me, he’s doing it to lots and lots of people in this area. There must be a way to protect against these people who take money and do not perform. It’s breach of contract. It’s a crying shame people do this, but beware of people who offer services like heat and air on FB Marketplace.
