I am a South African citizen/resident, currently looking for a remote job. I came across a job posting for a remote admin position on the website jooble.com for a company called “Coledesk”. After I sent my application i received a virtual interview request which i did via a link (https://www.videoask.com/f1wyiicor). I completed the virtual interview and received a “job offer” very shortly thereafter, from the so called HR department at Coledesk (Younge Jor Talent Acquisition Specialist) They sent me an offer letter with great detail about the company, my duties, my salary ect. They also stated that I would have to pay for the delivery of my equipment which would have been a new laptop and a headset. I signed and sent back the offer letter and also enquired about how exactly the process would work. I copied the reply : “

Subject: Equipment Delivery and Onboarding Protocols

Good Evening

As we approach your commencement date, we are endeavoring to finalize the logistical arrangements for the dispatch of your company-issued equipment.

To facilitate a seamless delivery process, please furnish the following requisite documentation to either [email protected] or [email protected]

- Proof of residential address

- Valid government-issued identification (national ID card, driver's license, or passport)

Please be advised that you will be obligated to settle the delivery costs upfront. However, we will provide reimbursement for these expenses with your inaugural salary payment, contingent upon receipt of a verifiable proof of payment.

Should you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in this matter. We eagerly anticipate welcoming you to our team.

I then replied the following:

“ Good day.

Thank you for your email.

I’m sure you are aware that there are many scams out there that require payments as you are requesting.

I just want to be vigilant and make sure everything is in order.

Please provide me with a detailed description of how the equipment delivery works, which courier company do you use, how I am to pay and how much will it cost me ect.

Kind regards.”

Thereafter I have not received any communication where they responded quickly to all my other emails, this leads me to believe it is a scam. They do not have any reviews on google and the letterhead is unprofessional. I do not know exactly how much I was going to have to pay for the so called equipment as they have not replied.

I still have the offer letter and all the emails. I am happy to send screenshots and copies if needed.
