A man identified as "Carson" called saying my daughter had filled out a form requesting SAT study materials affiliated with collegeboard.org. He said he was part of the "Student Services" department of College Prep & needed my approval before sending out study materials. The materials would include paper resources & flash drives. She could keep the paper resources but the flash drives would need to be sent back within 30 days. A deposit of $249.95 would be required but would be returned when the flash drives were returned. He said he would be our personal contact & would be available to answer questions and provide support. The initial charge didn't go through & I was told to check for a fraud alert that sometimes happened. I received an alert & foolishly approved it knowing my daughter had been doing online prep for the SAT. Upon talking to my daughter, she did not order any additional study materials & I began trying to reach "Carson" with the number he provided. The line rings & then goes to voicemail giving the name of the company as "College Prep", lists their hours as Monday-Friday 10AM-6PM Pacific Standard Time & then says they are currently busy assisting other callers & if I leave my name & number with area code they will return the call. I left one message & didn't receive a return call. I have, however, attempled to call multiple times.
