They emailed a not real / honeypot email address, trying to contact someone who has died. I replied that the person was deceased, and they keep emailing her as if she was alive and replying. Maybe they have a good internet connection to the afterworld! :)

This is the content of her first email - [check out her second name! it is "Fiisher! Im not sure ive ever seen anyone with that second name before. Ive seen "Fisher" or Fischer".. never, "FIIsher". May be im ignorant.. but, here you go!

Hi Lakshmi, I found your Linked In Postdoctoral fellow profile interesting. The Chicago Women Leaders association would really enjoy your participation. Would it be okay to relay to you some details about our group?

Faithfully,

Hi Lakshmi, thank you for getting back to me. We would really enjoy your participation in this year's Chicago Women's Leadership Summit. It is online this year due to COVID but now also includes monthly speakers by dial-in AND a pass to next year's in-person when safe (all included). Can you check your availability and mark your schedule? Here is our site with the date and details:

Site at https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://chicagowomenleaders.org__;!Dq0X2DkFhyF93HkjWT... />
Also let me know if you wish to be considered for one of the panels or if you have a favorite speaker you wish us to invite and I will suggest that to Jennifer who is wrapping up the speaker invites. I replied quickly but will read through your email and answer any specific questions when I get a chance. Thanks Lakshmi.

Sincerely,
Shelly Fisher

I received email from 'Shelly Fisher' asking me to register. I did end up registering! Never received any link or any information on the summit. Definitely a scam!

I have also received correspondence from Shelly Fisher (in some emails she is Shelly Fitzgerald) inviting me to be a speaker at the upcoming Chicago Women's Leadership Summit. I have noticed "Shelly F" on several state / city women's leadership events, so I find it hard to believe she would be the single point-person on multiple events. When I searched for additional information on the website, I noticed it is not a secure link. I have made a few email requests about what topics they would like me to speak on, but instead of giving me information about the event, she keeps requesting that I register for the summit. When you click on registration, there is no information on fees, etc. Typically, speakers have a reduced or waived registration fee as a thank-you for expertise contribution, but there is no mention of that. It also seems suspicious because the emails are not written professionally, consistently, or with any company/organization letterhead or logo. Further, her responsiveness is very slow - for someone looking to fill speaker slots an event that starts in less than 2 weeks, I have serious doubts regarding their validity. Future correspondence will be sent to spam / junk folder!

I was also contacted with same circumstances. I've been retired for 10 years so thought it was odd?

I was contacted via email by Shelly Fitzgerald claiming she is with the Planning Committee for Colorado Women's Leadership Summit. Shelly's email said she found my LinkedIn profile interesting, and that "...we would enjoy your participation in the Colorado Women Leaders." I replied, stating I was interested in participating. Shelly replied with a link - http://COWomenLeaders.org - that does not work. Upon researching the URL, it does not exist. I did further investigation and found that Shelly is a real person, and she organizes conferences and summits. So the email comes across as legitimate. But I found other evidence of similar "summits" that were a scam.

I also received this but was curious how she would have received my direct email. Thanks for posting!

Interesting, I was contacted today by Shelly. I haven't heard back but she said the same thing to me but for Chicago.
