The scammer sent me an email saying I owe a debt from a previous apartment complex I lived in 3 years ago. I called the number associated with the email and spoke with a gentleman. He informed me I have a balance due with Columbia Debt Recovery and asked me immediately how much do I want to pay today. When I refused, he said can you pay anything today in good faith. He made it sound like a legitimate company by asking me to state my first and last name, DOB, and email. He also stated this line is being recorded due to training purposes. I went to the leasing office at my old apartment complex to confirm I do not have a past balance due and it was confirmed I do not owe anything.
