A person called misrepresenting Com Ed stating the technician was on his way to turn off service due to non payment. They were more than willing to take payment over the phone, however! They were high pressure, rude, and manipulative. Surprisingly the number on Caller ID matched the customer service number of ComEd who confirmed for me that my account was in good standing, so the scammers used call spoofing also. I did not fall for it and am reporting it here instead.

Received a call, saying they were from Com Ed, and they were going to disconnect my Electric Service today!! If I paid them, they would stop the disconnection. It had to be done today. Mr. Kennedy, Joel, Anthony, Steven Montgomery, all told me of different ways to pay them. They even gave me a case # 856326251-001. When they asked me to go to Office Depot and get a Prepaid Card and call them back with the code on it, I smelled a rat!!!!

I just received a phone call from Com Ed staying tgat since I was a loyal customer, I was eligible for a discounted rate on my bill. I was to press “1” if I wanted to hear more. Did it and was disconnected. Called number back and received a message that I couldn’t connect as dialed. Now what?

Cutting off electric service for a business. Demanding payment within 45 minutes to stop the technician from coming out to cut off the service. Pass due payment, not true. The system does not reflect the payment. Payment can be made on the phone and once the check is researched and applied to the bill ComEd would send a cashier check out for the amount. (Does not sound right). Or at least $895 and some change paid today. They did give a call in number with ext and managers.
We did not pay them anything.

I was contacted by someone claiming to be from Com Ed, said that they were cutting off my power to our restaurant if we didn't pay our bill. They know our account number, exact dollar amount and had our business info. They informed me that I needed to by a card called MoneyPak because they were on their way to shut down our service and that was the only way to pay.
