A man buzzed every unit in our building until someone let him in the front door. He then went door to door claiming to be from Comed and needed to see my utility bill. I had read about this scam from Comed and BBB in the past so told him to leave the building immediately, to which he replied, "We can go to war over this if you want." I slammed the door in his face and sent an email to all my neighbors warning them this was happening.

Someone claiming to be from ComEd called our business saying that our bill was overdue and they were going to turn off our electricity. He gave me the number of the "customer service" line, who said our only solution was to make a cash payment of $811.90 at a Family Dollar down the street, giving me his direct extension to call so he could "walk us through the payment".

A women claiming to represent ComEd came to our house around 5:30PM stating that our account had been selected to explore alternative energy options (something about solar/windpowered). When asked if the account holder was home, my wife told her that I (her husband) handle the bills and I'd be home any minute. The women claimed she would return some point during the evening as she was "in the area" until 8PM but never came back. My belief is if ComEd had any questions, they would contact me (the primary contact on the account) directly via phone, mail and/or email not face-to-face.

THE PERSON SAYS THEY ARE FROM COMED AND THEY ARE GOING TO SHUT OFF THE PAOWER IN A COUPLE HOURS UNLESS WE PROVIDE A PREPAID CREDIT CARD NUMBER AND THAT PAYMENT HAS NOT BEEN RECEIVED FROM US.

Young woman claiming to be a ComEd rep, comes to my door and asks to see my ComEd bill to explain a new energy saving deduction. I told her I would call the customer service line to handle. She then repeated herself about the new energy saving deduction asking to see my bill again for her to confirm if it had been applied, because according to her it may have already. I told her I did not have a bill available at this time and would need to handle it at a later time. She then repeated herself about the energy saving deduction and said thank you and left. The scammer was in her 20s, about 5"2, slim frame, dark hair, Caucasian, light complexion.

His name is Steven Torres and claimed to be apart of ComEd financial division. He told me my bill was past due and my services would be cut off in the next 30 mins. He also gave me another number to remedy my past due bill. That number was 877 999 0098

Called practice stating there was a notice sent 10 days prior in the mail and our bill was 2 months behind and our power would be shut off in 45 minutes if we did not make a payment. They gave me a number to their billing department. I called ComEd directly and realized it was a scam and reported it. When i confronted them they hung up. Now this number answers as Eversource, I also contacted this electric company and reported theses scammers.

Scammer was an insistant man with a heavy accent. Even went so far as pretended to "transfer" me to another department. He kept demanding I pay a utility bill I knew I had definitely paid already. He asked for account numbers and check numbers....

Thankfully I knew something was up and didn't give him any personal information.

Twice now a man or two different men have knocked on my Albany Park neighborhood apartment door (having somehow gotten in the locked street level door) wanting to talk about my electrical account. With #1 we asked to see I.D. and they fled, and the second fled when I said I would call the police.

On Friday, September 8 around 5 p.m. a man knocked at my door. He had a clip board and said he represented ComEd. They said they were making changes in the apartment building that would save residents money. He asked for my current ComEd bill so he could find my account. The process took about 15 minutes. Another representative called me and asked me a bunch of questions that I was told to respond 'yes' to.
