I was texted on 4/23/18 about receiving $300 for a survey from Mr. James Farrell of Community Research, Inc. I was also texted on 4/23/18 about receiving a $1680 check to do a survey from Sean Farrell of Community Research, Inc. I received a $1680 check which my ATM did not accept, but I was able to deposit it on 4/25/18. I proceeded to do the secret shopper survey at Wal Mart on 4/25/18 purchasing a $500 gift card and 2-$400 gift cards. I was told to scrape off the PIN # off of the gift cards, take a photo and text the back of the gift cards and my receipts and survey to 502-353-2684 and 502-353-2683. I received a notice from my bank on 5/4/18 that the check was altered or fake, and I was charged $20 by my bank. I called the Wal Mart gift card balance line, and learned that all 3 cards' balance was 0 after being used on 4/25/18. The texts adressed me by my name and said 'How are you doing today?. I filed a police report on 5/4/18. I learned that this scam has been going on, but I failed to check it out first.
