I received a text message while on facebook from a guy that I went to school with fifty years ago. He told me about a grant for low-income people in our area (CSBG) and gave me a telephone number to call in order to sign up. That number was 1-802-827-0264. This person and I were never close, and I thought it strange he should contact me out of the blue for this. I immediately looked up the CSBG grant on the internet and saw the warning of the scam.

I did not call the number, nor did I agree to pay anything. This person tried to contact me again yesterday, though I did not receive the message until very late.

We are very poor; my wife and myself living off a modest Social Security income. I am also disabled. Please don't allow these thugs to take advantage of people like us.
