They called and wanted to refund me $299 for a computer due to a virus located on it. She asked if I could get in front of computer (I have an older one in a box) so I said sure. She wanted me to turn it on and go to some type of page. I said I have already taken the computer apart and put it in the box. She said you should not lie about having a computer you big liar and hung up. So I called back and explained that a customer representative had called me a liar because my computer was in the box and not h she wanted me to turn it on and go to some type of page. So I called back and explained that a customer representative had called me a liar because my computer was in the box and not hurthopked up. As stated I did have a laptop. So the gentleman on the phone this time asked me to get the laptop. I said may I ask how this virus got on my computer. He said it was detected 11 months ago and we want to refund you $299. I said how is that possible when we just got this laptop a month ago. He said it came through your Wi-Fi connection. I said I live in a remote area where we do not have access to Wi-Fi only have mobile data. So he called me several rude names and hung up. So I called back again and ask why they lied to me and why they hung up on me when I questioned how my computer got a virus. He said you are a mother[censored]er. I said I may be but I will be calling the Better Business Bureau and I will continue to call your number and keep you tied up so you cannot scam other people. The woman and the man that I spoke to did not speak plain English obviously and when I asked the name of his company I did not understand it the first time and ask him to repeat it and he repeated it differently. So beware of anyone calling to refund you $299 for a virus on your computer especially if they claim they were from Norton because to the best of my ability I believe that’s what he said he worked for. I did not give them a chance to ask me for money because I am mediately knew it was a scam. I realize I immediately stopped the scam and did not lose any personal information or fines but I do not appreciate getting voicemails, unwanted phone calls, and being talk to you in a rude manner. Since I was not actually a victim of a scam I don’t know if this is the action I needed to take but it was the best I knew to do.
