My office received a call about a disconnection notice for our old office. Alarmed, I thought we were still being billed for services we do not use. The technician advised me to call 855-511-1809. I gave them our old Con Ed account number and was told we owe $1319.36 for three months of billing. Specifically, I spoke with a man who called himself George Gonzalez at extension 77. My predecessor advised me that this sounded like a scam, so I called the number on one of our old Con Ed bills, which indeed was different. They confirmed that our account was closed on June 17. No money was exchanged, and Con Ed said that our old account number will be useless to them, but I'm reporting it to you for our safety and because they should be shut down. I will contact the police as well.
