The scammer said my SS number has been compromised and there were charges put on a credit card in my name in another state. He gave me the amount and asked if I'd given my card to someone else or if it was stolen. I looked on my card website and there was no activity I didn't know about. When I told him what I was seeing he said he already deleted it so I wouldn't be able to see it. He continued to tell me of all our other credit cards and the amount of debt on them!! He told me my social # and my address. Then he went on to say that Creditors are in violation of the "Fair Debt Collections Act" and they can help with lowering our debt. I realized this is their way of trying to get people to commit to a debt consolidation plan. This all alarmed me knowing someone can get all this information. My husband and I had to close all the accounts he named to get new cards.
