I was using an app - My Fitness Pal - and saw an ad saying: Market Survey, Get 1 Gift - fill this survey & be awarded an exciting gift. I thought this was part of the app at the time so I trusted the link it brought me to (plus my browser didn't warn me of the website). The website link was to a survey that I took asking various questions about cleaning (15 questions). I answered them and at the end, I got two tries to "pick the right box" that the prize was in (4 boxes). I chose the right one on the second turn and was directed to a page where I got to claim a vacuum cleaner as a prize, I just had to pay for shipping. I got skeptical but at the bottom, it was listed that there was a secure 256-bit encrypted connection showing safety protection (McAfee, Norton, etc). I put in my credit card information, shipping information, and personal information (email and phone number). Afterward, I was given an order ID (7032B094C4) and I closed my browser. An hour later I received a message from my bank saying there was potential fraud of $50 (I was supposed to only have to pay ~$6 for shipping). Upon calling my bank, I found out that there were TWO charges ($49.99 and $9.97) on my card for the website Mineral Caps Today. I am upset that I fell for this and that it happened. Either Mineral Caps is doing this fake survey or some bigger corporation is baiting and switching. I even read the terms and conditions to make sure I wasn't going to be charged for something more (a subscription or something), but alas this still happened.
