I was contacted about an item that I listed on Craigslist by what appeared to be two separate individuals. However, both attempted to run the same scam- overpay and have the balance returned. One sent a check in the name of a woman who is currently in a retirement home across the country from the mailing address on the envelope the check arrived in. All the information on the check and the mailing location are for businesses which can be readily found online. Her information was also readily available through the online whitepages. The amount of the check was over 5 times the asking amount.
