Cox Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Boulder City, NV, USA

My internet service went down with COX communications while streaming a TV show. I went online(Google) on my phone and locked up COX communication. There was the main website and one below that stated COX Internet Services (877-971-8248). I called the number on my cell phone. The person on the other end already knew my info from my cell phone number and stated my service was interrupted because I needed to pay once every two year service fee of $59.99. This would guarantee my service would no be interrupted and COX required it of all their customers. I succumbed to paying the service and actually thought it was legit because I received authorization codes via text from the same COX number used previously to notify me of my monthly bill. After giving the person (Janet) my debit card, I then received another text from 401-240-2231 claiming to be Infinity Technologies requesting authorization for the charge (Janet told me on the phone they were a subsidiary of COX). I approved the charge and received a confirmation code to make it look legit. Since I was suspicious, I reached out to COX main site and found out I was duped and there is no $59.99 maintenance charge. I immediately blocked my debit card and reported the fraudulent activity o my bank.
