Showed up first day, 3 days later than scheduled, to do demo. Then text a week later to say he got sick and his truck broke down, so he'd send a worker who works with him, but needed to give him payment up front. My home was missing part of it's ceiling so I had to complete the job. I gave the additional payment requested, with specific notes on the agreed upon work. The worker showed a few days later and put my ceiling back up, then left and neither completed the work paid for. It's been 3 weeks now and when I reached out initially I got an apology and was told a family member passed. This person was paid 2,400.
