I received a text and a phone call purporting to be a debt collection agency called CPC. First, they called me by a last name that I haven't used in over 20 years. Then, in order to verify my identity, they wanted the last 4 of my social security number and my date of birth. They said they had sent me a letter concerning the supposed debt. 1) I am not delinquent on any debts, 2) there is nothing in my credit report indicating a late or delinquent account. This is obviously an attempted identity theft.

Scammer's phone(210)764-4843 Type of a scamDebt Collections
Called our home ph at 12:57 pm on Thur 8-6-2015, and asked for my husband. He was working on this day, the woman (foreign accent) said she is on a recorded line and its an attempt to collect a debt. she said a debt of $3?? is owed by us to a Dr G Tate from 3/24/2014. My husband did have oral/facial surgery in Lufkin, Tx on this exact day, but we paid our amount in cash and the office filed rest to insurance. I've called the Dr office today, 8/6/15, and they show we never had an outstanding balance and are sending us a detailed statement showing zero balance. The lady from this collection company which gave me a # to directly contact her, told me i need to send the proof to her of zero balance owed. She has my husband's DOB, address, phone #, and who knows what else....
