Creative Air Solutions Inc. made several calls to our land line to speak with my husband, who is recovering from a stroke. Once we picked up the phone, they claimed that there was a government home improvement program for homeowners. We discussed on the phone a convenient date for them to our home to discuss what the program is about. We agreed on a date for them to come and Benjamin, a representative of Creative Air Solutions, came to our home on April 11, 2023. He reiterated the claims that were made on the phone and added that the program is meant for senior citizens. While he was still in our house, he asked to see our HVAC system in our backyard. We agreed. After inspecting the unit, he claimed that “the gas/coolant only had 25% left” until it needed to be replaced. He also suggested that we should just replace the system outside since the program would be funded by the government. He asked if my husband was 60 years old or older and began filling out a form. Immediately after ?lling the form, he stated that we were quali?ed for the program and that the government would take care of the costs of everything and send a check covering any payments that we would make.

From there, he asked for our (my husband and my) Social Security Numbers to ?ll out the information for the “government.” We gave Benjamin our Social Security Numbers. From there, he mentioned the workers would come in tomorrow to repair the HVAC system. The workers came on April 12, 2023. The following day (April 13, 2023), Benjamin came back to our house to inspect the work and claimed that there were rat feces in the attic-area. In order to take care of this alleged rat problem, he stated that we would need to seal off the area and pay $350 per month for 11 years to “cover the expenses.” He also stated that the government would also reimburse us for this additional work with a check. We agreed to have this extra work done and the workers came to our house on April 14, 2023 to complete the work. We were waiting for the check to arrive, but the check never came. A couple of weeks after the work was done, two letters from Synchrony Bank were addressed to myself and my husband stating that we opened accounts and withdrew $49,000 in cash from a credit card. We were confused because we have never opened credit card accounts with Synchrony Bank. From there, I called the Creative Air Solutions company but the call went to their voicemail stating that their mailbox was full. This call occurred on May 19, 2023. Synchrony Bank had called my husband multiple times because they wanted to speak with me. I called Synchrony Bank to speak with an agent, but I was met with their answering machine system that asked for my Social Security Number. Because I was not speaking with a person directly, I did not feel comfortable giving my Social Security Number and I dropped the call.

I called Creative Air Solutions with my cellphone (previously called with a landline phone) to mitigate the issue and Benjamin, from Creative Air Solutions, picked up the phone. I asked him what happened. He starts talking about how he was involved in an accident. I asked him about where he lives. He mentions that he lives between San Bernardino and Rialto. Moments later, he hangs up the phone. This call occurred on May 25th. Afterwards, on May 25, 2023 between 5pm-6pm, I called the Riverside Police Department to explain the situation. They recommended that we write to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), so my daughter wrote and reported our experience with Creative Air Solutions to the FTC.

Since then, Synchrony Bank has been repeatedly calling my house and I have suspicion that the bank is working with Creative Air Solutions. The bank allowed someone to open an account in my husband’s name and take out a large sum of money in cash using a credit card right when the account was opened. I am a stay-at-home mom and I am taking care of my husband, who is no longer working and is recovering from a stroke. This company is taking advantage of seniors by falsely claiming that a government program exists for home improvement so that they can lure seniors into giving personal information that would be used to open credit cards in their name. My husband and I have never opened any account with Synchrony Bank and we would never use a credit card to withdraw cash.

This company tried to charge my elderly mother in a senior community $6495 for a condenser and said her A/C was leaking. The only concern she had was the ability to read the Thermostat. She lives in a small mobile home. I was able to stop this installation due to cameras in her home. They did initially take a check for $495 for deposit but I was able to stop payment on this.

We contacted the company and installer and also notified the senior community of this company taking advantage of the senior population.
