WARNING FOR FRAUD ALERT CALL FOR YOUR CREDIT CARD - I received a phone call today from a toll-free number, which started with a recording stating suspicious activity on my credit card alerted the fraud alert department for my credit card, about an international purchase of $735.37 made yesterday. If I did not make this purchase, press "1". An "officer of the Fraud Alert Dept." came on the line. I confirmed this was not a purchase I had made. He asked if I had made any online purchases yesterday, and asked if I had noticed any suspicious activity while using my card in the last few days, such as someone walking away with my card for a few minutes. He then advised they would not process the charge, and they would be issuing me a new card with a new number that would be mailed to me within 3 - 5 business days. Here's the RED FLAG - he asked me for my credit card number to verify I was the credit card holder. I advised that I NEVER give this info out over the phone, and would prefer to go to the Bank in person to confirm. He suggested I could also phone the Fraud Alert Dept. back, and gave me his name and his officer i.d. number. I phoned the Fraud Alert Dept., and was advised they DO NOT HAVE OFFICER I.D. NUMBERS. I reported the phone number, and they confirmed this was a phishing call, unauthorized. I've received different kinds of phishing calls in the past, but - wow! The man who called was extremely professional and definitely sounded legit. He was very good at his job... just a reminder to everyone to beware!
