I have a second home in Florida. On March 7, 2024 I called CR Garagedoors of Naples, upon the recommendation of my neighbor. A technician came to repair the door and then handed me an invoice for $8778. Though flabbergasted, I offered a credit card, assuming my bank would see through the scam. (he initially requested cash). I called the company the next day to discuss this outrageous bill. I sent the invoice (copy) at their request, and then was never able to communicate with them again. On their website they claim to be ScamPulse.com accredited, however on a ScamPulse.com website it states they are not accredited and have an F rating. I am currently pursuing them in small claims court as my credit card company, the Florida department of Ag: Consumer Services Division and the AG Seniors Against Crime Project have all bailed, claiming they can't protect me from paying too much for a service. The repair failed 29 days later and I engaged the help of another garage door repairs service. His estimate of the original job was less than $800 and he said the the parts used by CR were faulty, in fact he replaced these parts with some of the parts originally on the garage door. This company has multiple outlets in Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero and Ft. Myers. I have read some very troublesome reviews. My reason for this submission is to alert the residents of Florida of these unscrupulous business practices and hopefully get the law involved if that was possible. I spoke with an attorney and she said the climate in Florida is very business friendly, and experiences like mine are common and complainants have little recourse and few advocates.
