Scammer's address 2225 Sheppard Ave E Suite 800 Toronto Ontario M2J 5C2, Toronto, ON, CAN
Victim Location ON L6Y 1Y9, CAN
Total money lost $10,000
Type of a scam Other
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!
The scam usually starts with them asking for a gas or utility bill under the pretense of saving you money when in reality they are confirming ownership on the property so they can place a lien if someone disputes the contract. The savings and rebates never materialize and the consumer often ends of paying far more than the market value of the equipment.
These sketchy door to door salesmen ignore NO SOLICITING signs, don’t check to see if there is a POA or whether the person has the mental and financial capacity to make these outrageous payment terms. Many are elderly on fixed income and many with health conditions as with the case with my mother.
They installed an overpriced furnace instead of making a repair and claimed the other equipment came with it as they were installing it. The salesmen appeared to use the signature from the furnace or forged it on a different contract. They added a water softener and purifier when my mother’s lives in the city.
She would have been better off going to Culligan who is a more reputable company for her water softener. These predators claim to be from Enbridge but the name on the gas bill is Simply Comfort on her Enbridge gas bill. The director’s and staff from Crown Crest Capital who are constantly harassing my mother are also connected to these sketchy door to door marketing companies. It also appears that Crown Crest and their connected companies are members of the BBB and receive bias treatment regarding complaints resolutions since they are paying members. This is fraud, plain and simple.
We need to hold these scammers accountable when they mislead and coax contracts on those under duress or unable to make a rational decision.
