The above company has been double dipping and over charging one account under 2 companies (embrage consumers gas) and billing me twice for a product that is extremely over priced. The contract has ended but now they are claiming I have another 5 years of payments. * **** * ****** *** **** **** *** ****** ********* ** ***

My husband "rented" an air conditioner in 2010 from a Simply Comfort salesman that showed up at our door, unbeknownst to me. Fast forward 7 years when we went to refinance our home for renovations, we found a lien against the title of our home for the a/c unit. We had no idea that this HVAC company did this. Needless to say, we had been paying approximately $56/month over 7 years for a total of $4,704.00. To get the lien off of our home we were required to pay $10,426 to "buy out" the a/c unit. That was a grand total of $15,130.00 for an a/c unit that would, otherwise, cost around the $5000 range. Fast forward to TODAY...we have just found out that Crown Crest Financial Corp. (Simply Comfort) has put yet ANOTHER lien on the title for $7000 for the SAME a/c. When we called to inquire about this lien there is no record of us even being customers. I have been calling all day, and get the complete run around saying that they can't help because there is no account related to my address. I have been directed to FIVE different contact numbers to no avail. The sale of our home is supposed to happen in 4 days and I have no idea if this will now happen because of this company. Through my research of Simply Comfort, I have found out that there are numerous companies and financial corporations under an umbrella, owned by the same person. These include Simply Comfort, Simply Green, Sandpiper Energy, Crown Crest Financial Corp, Crown Crest Capital, Eco-Home Financial, Viva Financial...I'm sure there are many more "names" to this company. I have also found out that there is a Class Action Lawsuit against Crown Crest Capital Management Corp., Crown Crest Financial Corp and these companies' CEO and owner, Lawrence Krimker.

I’m glad that the Ontario government finally stepped in to ban door to door selling back in March 1, 2018. These viruses prey on the elderly and pressure them into buying unnecessary equipment, often overpriced, while constantly lying and misleading the public.
The scam usually starts with them asking for a gas or utility bill under the pretense of saving you money when in reality they are confirming ownership on the property so they can place a lien if someone disputes the contract. The savings and rebates never materialize and the consumer often ends of paying far more than the market value of the equipment.
These sketchy door to door salesmen ignore NO SOLICITING signs, don’t check to see if there is a POA or whether the person has the mental and financial capacity to make these outrageous payment terms. Many are elderly on fixed income and many with health conditions as with the case with my mother.
They installed an overpriced furnace instead of making a repair and claimed the other equipment came with it as they were installing it. The salesmen appeared to use the signature from the furnace or forged it on a different contract. They added a water softener and purifier when my mother’s lives in the city.
She would have been better off going to Culligan who is a more reputable company for her water softener. These predators claim to be from Enbridge but the name on the gas bill is Simply Comfort on her Enbridge gas bill. The director’s and staff from Crown Crest Capital who are constantly harassing my mother are also connected to these sketchy door to door marketing companies. It also appears that Crown Crest and their connected companies are members of the BBB and receive bias treatment regarding complaints resolutions since they are paying members. This is fraud, plain and simple.

We need to hold these scammers accountable when they mislead and coax contracts on those under duress or unable to make a rational decision.
